Full Tilt (Rat City)
Pros: Punk operated vegan (and non-vegan) friendly ice cream shop THAT ALSO SELLS BEER! Always all-ages, always awesome. The homemade ice cream is amazing, the Rainiers are cheap and they have pinball and skee ball. Next door to bars if you need a shot in between sets, and across the street from a Rat City Records if you're too young for shots :)
Cons: Size. This place is tiny. But, that can also be an amazing plus for crowd energy. I mean, if Mudhoney can rock this non-stage, so can your band! Only other minus would be they don't do shows super often.
Wagon Wheel (South Prairie/Tacoma)
Pros: Wagon Wheel is a bad ass backwoods bar that is owned by a punker's mom. She is kind enough to open up the floor to Tacoma area punks a few Friday/Saturdays a month. The locals used to gawk, but they are pretty use to the show scene nowadays. The space is large enough (and slippery enough!) for a really energetic pit! Drinks are super cheap and they have fried gizzards on the menu.
Cons: Only all-ages 'til 10pm, so shows start and end early. But, being so far away from town, it's kind of a blessing in disguise. Early show end-time gives you enough time to hit up 2 shows if you want and might even give your DD a chance to drink later in the night when you don't need a car to travel so far.
Booking: Tacoma Pyrate Punx
Pros: House shows, everyone is welcome (as long as they are respectful!). The basement is small, the roof is low. It's like an amazing cave of punk/grind/stoner metal awesome-ness! There is also a home-made wrestling rink outside that they will be using as an outdoor stage come summer weather. Bonfires usually happen at some point in the night.
Cons: I'm not going to disclose the address to this rad place because it is a house. I don't know about you, but I have little interest in MY address being posted all over the internet! Ask a punk, or a traveler kid.
The Charleston (Bremerton)
Pros: I've watched the owners of this fine tune what it means to be a true music venue. Over the past 10 years, I think they have gotten it down to an art! Great all-ages and bar area. Super respectful space: punk venue run by punx. Bands get paid out well... I've even seen them dip into their register to make sure bands get enough on slow nights.
Cons: Getting to Bremerton. It IS walk-able from the Seattle/Bremerton Ferry... but driving is recommended.
